A successful collaboration…

In February 2006 The Caring Place joined forces with Porter-Starke Services, the local community mental health center. Previously, Porter-Starke sustained a separate facility for women’s recovery clients who received basic recovery services.

The Caring Place now houses women's recovery clients in the shelter with 24-hour supervision and case management.  Client’s recovery treatment for addictions continue to be provided by Porter-Starke Services.

Because of this successful collaboration in serving the needs of both domestic violence and recovery clients, both organizations were presented the Porter County Community Foundation award as the 2006 Outstanding Nonprofits in Porter County.
