Before former board member and long-time friend of The Caring Place, Lila Cohen, left us at the age of 96 years old in 2021, her daughter made sure to provide us with a second order of cookbooks to continue funding our vital mission. Lila's cookbooks make wonderful gifts and you can purchase them at the Ella Jayms Boutique at 260 Franklin Street in downtown Valparaiso .

All proceeds benefit The Caring Place.

In a matter of one month, The Caring Place went from a charity that nobody would talk about to the most talked about nonprofit in Northwest Indiana . While this was everything the center for victims of domestic violence wanted, they also got what they desperately needed: over $110,000. While some might call achieving such ambitious goals a miracle, the Valparaiso businesses that helped make this happen have another name for it—search engine optimization (SEO).

A local holiday tradition continues, The Bozak Family Christmas Light Show is celebrating its 8th year of spectacular holiday lights and music magic. Programmed and constructed by Porter County Councilman Andy Bozak, his son Ayden and daughters Ava and Abriella, this year's show is bigger, better, and brighter than ever with thousands more lights drawing over 8,000 watts of electricity!

One year ago we broke ground on a new shelter for The Caring Place, intended to better serve the needs of our clients and to bring all of our services under one roof. This was a true labor of love in which community members offered their gifts of time, talent and treasure to make this dream a reality. Yesterday, we held our formal ribbon cutting ceremony, however prior to that we recognized the contributions of the individuals who truly made the new Center for Change come to be. To that end, we wish to thank each and every person who contributed in ways both big and small with this virtual ribbon cutting. Thank you to each person who was, and continues to be, an essential piece of the future of The Caring Place.
